Facilitator Distress and Presence
Steve Dilworth, an experienced
facilitator and professional supervisor, and I run a learning workshop for
both internal and external practicing facilitators on the topic of facilitator
distress. This workshop is inspired by the Doctorate programme that
Steve is currently undertaking and by common themes we are noticing in our
work and in that of other skilled facilitators around us. It is also inspired by the
work of John Heron who, on the subject of facilitator excellence and
authority, states: "You have distress-free authority, and do not
displace your own hidden pathology through your interventions". We ask participants to consider their attitude to
the concept of being free of distress in their work as facilitator. We welcome them as someone who defines

These day-long workshops
have a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 attendees and cost £300 plus VAT per attendee,
including room hire, lunch and refreshments.
Once we have between 10 and 12 people interested in the workshop, we
